Make eye contact (your eyes reveal your heart).
Ask questions and verbally track with the person talking (this will happen naturally if you’re actually listening).
Align your body to face the person (body language communicates a lot).
Don’t be distracted by your iPhone, the TV, or your own thoughts.
And most importantly, genuinely care about the other person. (This is probably the most important of all listening tips.)
Practice these things, and being a good listener will eventually come naturally to you. When you become a good listener you’ll make others feel loved and valued, and the quality of your relationships will improve dramatically.
Listening well is a simple way to make your life and the lives of others better.
