One way to tell whether or not a book is great or mediocre is to see how it affects your life. Do you live differently after reading that book? Are you inspired, challenged, provoked, encouraged, and motivated to make life changes (and, do you)?
Do you come out a different person after reading that book?
If the book does, then it was a great book.
One of the best books I’ve ever read is Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World
(affiliate link), by Bob Goff.
The reason why the book is so powerful is because it inspires, challenges, provokes, encourages, and motivates you to give Jesus everything you got, and to not settle for anything less. You finish each chapter (and the book) with hope, imagination, dreams, creativity, love, possibility and a desire to make a big difference in this world.
In short, you come out a different person after reading Love Does.
The point of the book: Love is not about thoughts and feelings; it’s about actions.
You will be inspired to love Jesus, your family and friends, your neighbors, your enemies, and everyone in small, great, creative, incredible, simple, difficult, and extraordinary ways.
We should note here, that Jesus said:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
– John 13:34-35
Bob is a phenomenal storyteller, and the stories and teachings throughout the book are INCREDIBLE (and real). The book is written very concisely, and each chapter is not long. It’s a fun, easy, enjoyable read, and it’s a book you need to read.

Then, come back and let us know how Love Does impacted your life.
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.”
– Galatian 5:6
Question: Have you read Love Does? How did it impact your life?

Roman, I read this a few weeks back and it certainly messed me up (for the better of course). I think I’m still digesting it in many ways, it challenged much of my mindset. It really challenged me to dream again, as I think that part of me has been fading. This is a book I’ll be buying for others for a while!
